I am trying to install MS Office 2007 on Ubuntu 9.04. When i try to install it in the Terminal with wine /setup.exe first I get a small message error which says dxdllreg.exe error but the silent install continues to extract the Office SFX. Actually it finishes the extraction and the splash of the setup window initializes ... but then I get some ole:err.

I have already tried it with the winetricks and checked all the msxml boxes and also tried it with the new rpcrt4.dll file.

Maybe I made a mistake in installing the ole options from winetricks ?
Please help me as soon as you can ... I need the installation asap.
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the tutorial. My MS Office 2007 setup starts but never ends :D

I saw the info messages as above. however i also see a dump which i have posted in my previous posts. The stack being too large had to be split in multiple posts.

My m/c details;
Quad core i5, 4 GB, Ubuntu lucid, running gnome.
$ wine --version
wine-1.0.1

Indeed, it seems that a lot has changed since the original tutorial has been posted. It would be good to know what is still needed and what has been incorporated into Wine.

I'm using Wine 1.1.42 on Ubuntu 10.04. Installation goes through fine, but Office does not start - you get "... encountered a problem and needs to close" dialog immediately after the splash screen. I chose install as Vista, but the rest of Wine is out of the box. Any advice?

Thanks!

Hey guys,

If you are using wine updated version of 1.1.36 then theres no need to mess all these dll files. You can just double click the .exe file and install ur office. There's no more need of doing all these things mentioned in the blog.

Anyways thanks for figuring out these tricks 2 years back itself. Thanks admin for the blog.
